Shop.org, the US-based membership community for digital
retail and EMOTA, the voice of e-commerce and distance selling in
Europe, are proud to present the first Global E-commerce Summit.
With an ambitious goal of becoming the “Davos” of the
E-commerce industry, the Global E-Commerce Summit brings together
the global leaders in online and multichannel retailing to network,
share best practices, develop new business opportunities and shape
the future of the industry.
Shop.org (USA) and EMOTA (Europe) represent the 25 largest global
e-commerce markets. BBP is the multimedia company in the Netherlands
responsible for the organisation and marketing of the event in Amsterdam.
The collaboration between the 3 organisations and their members
has provided a strong basis to draw speakers and attendees from
across Europe, the United States, and other parts of the world. |

About EMOTA |

EMOTA the European E-commerce and
Mail Order Trade Association
EMOTA is based in Brussels and
comprises 23 national associations from 22 countries:
19 from the European Union as it is today (Austria, Belgium, Czech
Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany (2), Great Britain,
Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Poland,The Netherlands, Romania,
Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden ) as well as Norway, Russia
and Switzerland.
The mission of EMOTA is threefold:
• to serve as a platform for exchange of information and support
between its 23 member associations;
• to increase consumer confidence in buying at a distance (off- as
well as on-line) by offering professional knowledge and know-how
and by stimulating self-regulation within the sector;
• to represent the specific interests of e-commerce and distance
selling trade in general. |

Scott Silverman has served as executive director
of Shop.org since 2001. He is responsible for the overall
management and leadership of Shop.org and its mission to help
its members significantly improve their multichannel retail
capabilities by addressing the evolving opportunities and
issues related to the Internet and the integration with other
channels. He is a frequent speaker and has been quoted in
major news outlets including USA Today, The Wall Street Journal,
The New York Times, NPR, Investors Business Daily and The
Washington Post..

Wijnand Jongen
Home shopping, e-commerce, e-business, Internet retailing,
multichannel retailing, cross-border shopping. These are all
subjects with which Wijnand Jongen has been intensively involved
during recent years; as consultant, advisor, speaker and entrepreneur.
Since 2000 Wijnand Jongen has been the executive director
of the Dutch Home Shopping Association known as Thuiswinkel.org,
the principal organization promoting the interests of over
800 companies selling products and/or services to consumers
via internet, catalogues, post, etc..

Paul
Petermeijer is CEO and Owner of multichannel Publisher
BBP, over the last 10 years he has launched a number of new
magazines, events and awards all in the Field of customer
service e-commerce and catalogue marketing. Both the events
and the magazines are leaders in their respective fields.
The events attract over 15.000 vistors every year and the
publications inform well over 100.000 professionals every
month. Paul’s main focus is to provide businesses with
information in every possible form. As an hands-on manager
Paul is involved in the whole process of each project his
company is involved in from concept to marketing and content.

Ditrich
Junghans, President of EMOTA
Dieter Junghans was born in 1959 in Bardenberg/Germany. After
a banker education he studied economics from 1979 to 1983
at Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule, Aachen.
He worked for Direct Marketing companies in Zurich, Ettlingen
and San Francisco and, in 1985, joined the family business
Junghans-Wolle, focusing on the foundation and development
of Pro-Idee, a leading seller of hard-to-find, high quality
consumer goods distributed by catalogue and through internet
within 6 European countries. |

Dr.
Thomas Steinmark, Chief Executive Officer of the German E-
Commerce and Distance Selling Trade Association (bvh)
Dr. Thomas Steinmark studied law and economics in Frankfurt
am Main and Heidelberg. He graduated from university with
the German business administration degree and proceeded to
a doctor of laws. In the years from 1975 to 1980 Dr. Steinmark
was the research associate of the Law School of the University
of Frankfurt. Thereon he moved to Cologne, where he worked
as a research assistant for the Monopolies Commission which
acted against restraints of competition in the postal sector.
From the beginning of October 1981 on he started to work for
a range of trade associations. |

Freeman Evans, research director, Senior Analyst, Retail,
JupiterResearch and Vice Chairman, Shop.org
Patti Freeman Evans is a senior analyst and research director
with Jupiter Research, focusing on multi-channel retail strategy,
with nineteen years of diversified experience, expertise in
creating customer-centric ecommerce sites, integrating channels
effectively, developing innovative marketing initiatives and
ensuring high-standard customer service and order fulfilment
operations. |

Marc
Lollivier, director of FEVAD (member EMOTA strategic committee)
Marc Lolivier has been appointed Délégué
Général of the French E-commerce & Distant
Selling Federation (FEVAD) in June 2002. Fevad has 382 members
including 700 websites. It covers BtoC, BtoB and CtoC activities.
All the e-retailers including eBay, Amazon, Pixmania, Redcats
are members of Fevad. Prior to joining the FEVAD, he spent
11 years at Reader’s Digest Association, the world’s
leading publishing and direct marketing company. |
Susanne
Czech, secretary general of EMOTA
Susanne Czech is a Doctor of Laws from the University
of Graz, Austria.
In 1994, she entered the Austrian Insurance Association, responsible
for International Affairs, a position which she held for over
8 years.
She then moved, in 2002, to the European Insurance Federation
in Brussels, representing the common interests of the whole
European insurance sector as Head of European Single Market
Affairs and, later, also International Affairs.
Susanne Czech joined EMOTA in October 2006.

Wijnand Jongen, director, Thuiswinkel.org (member
EMOTA strategic committee)
Wijnand A.M. Jongen MBA (48 years of age) has been the managing
director of Thuiswinkel.org, the branch organisation for businesses
involved in the distance sale of products and/or services
to consumers via the internet, catalogues, post, etc., since
20th December 2000. There are currently about 800 leading
businesses affiliated with the branch association. In 2007
the Dutch home-shopping branch had a turnover of about €4.5
billion, of which €3.9 billion was generated online.
